My weight has been up and down since we started self-isolation in March. Well, really it’s been up and down all my life. Every so often, when my clothes get to the point where I feel like I’m about to bust out of them, I realize that it’s time to lose a few pounds. Nothing crazy, just 5-10 lbs; because your girl loves her snacks! At the beginning of the COVID-19 self-isolation period, I had lost a lot of weight due to stress. My clothes were fitting nice (even though I wasn’t happy). But, since I’ve been working remotely, I’ve definitely gained about 10 pounds; again, because I love snacks and that stressor no longer exists.
It’s a new month, and one of my goals is to tackle these quarantine pounds (again). I’m back on my workouts, and I’m more intentional about what I put into my body. I’ve never really been a gym buff, other than getting on the treadmill; usually my workouts are done at home or outside. I wanted to share some ways that I get my workouts in without heading to the gym (because I’m trying to avoid any chance of getting COVID-19 and we all know the gym has the most germs).

Zoom Workouts
Whoever thought that we would be using Zoom to conduct workout classes. Probably the toughest workouts that I’ve done has been with Gloria from @lifewithgloreeb. She plays no games! But, her workout routines work. She offers weekend classes for $10 a pop on the weekends. You should definitely hit her up, if you want a GOODT full body workout. Tell her I sent you.

YouTube University
If you really want to find a good workout (no matter the area you want to target), go to YouTube! There are literally thousands of good trainers and workout videos there. Here is a list of some of my faves!

DVDs
Y’all I’m a bit old school when it comes to my workouts. I know what works for me. So, I have no problem going back to my old faithful workout DVDs. I’ve had these DVDs for YEARS! And they work! Here are my favorite workout DVDs that actually deliver results.
- Jillian Michaels: 6 Week Six-Pack
- Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred
- Anowa Adjah: Lose the Gut Keep the Butt
- Leslie Sansone: Walk Away the Pounds
- Leslie Sansone: 4 Mile Power Walk

Get Out In Nature and Run
Sometimes I get tired of doing the same routine on the DVD’s and I really just need some fresh air. This is when I head outside to run the trail located around my apartment complex. There really is nothing like running through the forest and feeling the cool breeze hit your face. It’s the best feeling ever!
These are a few of my favorites ways to get back on track with working out. I try to start slowly and ease myself into it. But, I can pretty much guarantee that if you try any of these suggestions (and stick with them), you will get the results you want!
And because I know that today is #blackoutday2020, I wanted to also share a few black owned fitness apparel brands.
- The BodyNV (The Set I’m Wearing)
- Glamourina
- Culturefit
- Pru Apparel
- Eleven by Venus Williams
